The death of console video games has been forecast for years. However, sales of the most recent generation of console systems — the Microsoft Xbox One, Nintendo Wii U and Sony PlayStation 4 — and games for them are projected to top $15 billion in 2015, sales expert estimates. That's up 7% from last year. Obviously, despite all the noise and fanfare about mobile gaming, console gaming is not going away anytime soon. The sales break down from most sales from early 2015:

• Video game hardware (dedicated console and hand held games)
• Retail and Online Video Game Software
• PC Games
• Mobile phone and Tablet Games
